Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.
Does anyone know how to sort out this blockage on posting attachments?? I've been trying to add some comments and pictures to the Joe Price Gloucester Blacksmith topic for at least a week and have been getting the same message in response:- "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." Re: The mystery of Charley Hackenschmidt
Hi All Jean Hackenschmidt wrestled in the 1930s before a lot of the local councils put a stop to women wrestlers for several decades. There was an old army joke which said of women wrestlers 'there's no point in wrestling when it's all in!' Regards Handson Further to all-in wrestling and with refer...

Re: The mystery of Charley Hackenschmidt
On the issue of whether Georg Karl Julius Hackenschmidt had a brother -he did, and Bruno was his name.
Bruno was also a wrestler.
He also had a sister Alice.
The Swedish link was through his mother Ida Louise Johansson.
Georg retired in 1911 and lived for a further 57 years.

Re: Making adjustments
Talking about improvising equipment, some 50 years ago in my former life as a Chemical Engineer I worked on plants including ones producing ammonia and nitric acid. I used to scavenge in the scrap to pick out items for my gym. Much of the scrap was 316 austenitic stainless steel (18:12:8 Chrome Nick...

Re: Making adjustments
Hi Peter/Tom Going back to the subject of improvising equipment in the present climate I was able to help out one of my young relatives with a makeshift bench. As the attachment shows removal crates can be really robust there's 250lb in weights on it and I clambered on too taking the total weight to...

Re: Making adjustments
I knew what I was risking making that post. The ‘incoming’ and flak started straightaway. Middle son also a home trainer heading to 50 & ex- RU a.k.a. ‘turbo’, just couldn’t resist. My defence -yes but rewinding 50 years your extra 1/2” arm comes with a 7” height at 6’ 4” and 3 stones advantage. In ...
