RICKARD’S THEATER, CIRCA 1900 BY PETER YATES
Special thanks to Laurie Smith, Historian (Australia)
“Harry Rickards was an English comedian and singer who performed in a Music Hall in Britain and overseas. Settling in Australia he used his business savvy, promotional skills and connections to create a group of music halls across Australia. Starting in Sydney, he purchased the Garrick Theater changing the name to the Tivoli. Of course the strength acts, both male and female, were well represented on the Tivoli circuit and featured the best of both Australian and overseas acts.”
