“CYCLOPS” BIENKOWSKI BREAKING A COIN

While numerous old-time professional strongmen used to claim to be able to break coins with their fingers, only a very few were able to prove their claims in front of qualified witnesses. One of these bona fide performers was the Polish strongman, Franz Bienkowski, who for professional purposes adopted the mythical name “Cyclops.”

In his prime, which was in the late nineties, Cyclops was known throughout Europe as “The Coin-Breaker.” When he took to professional wrestling, it is said that he had to agree before each match not to use certain holds on his opponents, as if he did they might suffer irreparable injury from the power of his fingers and thumbs! While, naturally, Cyclops was constantly subjected to the jibes of disbelievers, he demonstrated his coin-breaking ability in a conclusive manner to the two leading contemporary authorities on strength in Europe.
