Re the photo, wow, fancy not recognising a young Arnold on the left and Wag Bennett on the right of Roy...Wag used to run all the south britain contests/shows where the ever smiling Roy competed. of all the line ups, Roy always looked as if he was actually enjoying the contest , unlike some looking as though waiting for the noose to drop. Arnold at that period called himself Arnold Strong, but soon dropped that tag the more famous he became. David Gentle

Roy had looks , brawn and brains . His sunny nature and smile meant
endorsements . Magazine covers , bodybuilding courses and equipment
offerings had many images of Roy plastered on them in the 70s & 80s.
He came across as what he was , a genuine nice guy ...

Was Roy Perrott natural or an early steroid user? Sticks is right, he's very photogenic

Hi Tom,
such questions are very difficult to answer except by someone who was very close to the person. Certainly his build was possible without drugs if he had good potential which i believe he had.My friend Arnold Betts was his training partner for quite some time and said he was all natural at that time.Arnold himself gave up the idea of competitive bodybuilding when drug taking became more common. Of course we know many who claimed to be natural at one time only to be found out later. For my money, i would say yes he was natural.
Regards,Peter.
