I managed to get in contact with Roger Davis by a convoluted route and he very kindly sent me some tidbits about the Pullum Bar Patent.
Ref the drawing shown here, the sizes are:_
c [inside collar] = 63mm*
d [brass handgrips] =127mm
e [outside brass spacers] =200mm
f [middle brass spacer] =407mm
g [dividing brass rings] =6mm**

Note [by me] * the OUTER collars with handwheels on my bar are 130mm
** the brass rings measured on my bar are actually 10mm wide but are recessed to 6mm -see picture below.
I'll need to send the rest of the wording of the Pullum Bar Patent application separately as the number of attachments can't exceed 3.
I hope the attachments appear in the correct order here -not sure how to arrange that.

Hi Handsen,

That's a superb bar and set of weights you have there - bar is in wonderful condition. I've only seen a couple of these. Here's some of my CWLC weights - the 50lb is an early example and the poundage does not appear on the plate. You'll love these pics! I can take better ones if you need: I had a problem with light bouncing off them hence taking from an angle.

All the best, Tom

Hello Tom

Thanks for your interest and super contribution.

I love the old photos -but would not have guessed it was Bill Pullum but then I have only seen photos of him in his books.

Did any of the Pullum bars you've previously seen have the 'handwheel' outer collars? -this is intriguing me about my bar.

I attach a pic of one of my 50 pounder discs which as you remark differs from yours in that mine has the poundage shown.
Best regards
Handson

HI TOM AND HANDSON,
THANKS FOR POSTING MORE GREAT PHOTOS OF CWLC BARBELL PLATES. WHEN WE USED TO DO CHARITY SHOWS AND FUND RAISERS THE TEETH LIFT WAS ONE OF MY STUNTS. HOWEVER I WAS LIFTING NOWHERE NEAR WHAT IS ON THAT BAR. I WOULD LIFT A 200LB MAN BUT AT 140LB BODY WEIGHT IT WAS NOT TOO BAD AND IT CERTAINLY WENT DOWN WELL. WOULD NOT TRY IT NOW THOUGH AS I ENJOY MUNCHING ON STEAKS TOO MUCH.
REGARDS, PETER.

Hi Dannyboy

You may find this of interest.

Two caveats however. The BBC saw fit to pare down 40 minutes of filming down to just a few minutes hence the dialogue is a bit disjointed and ancillary info has gone. Also because the film crew would not permit a tiny 'Puma' logo on the shirt a 'dress crime' was committed in which a sweater belonging to Adam Schoon the expert interviewer and several sizes too small, had to be worn.

Regards
Handson
