I recognized the older strongman right away; that's the great Ukrainian weightlifter Grigori Novak, and I believe the two younger performers are his sons. Novak won 8 Soviet Weightlifting Championships between 1940 & 1951 (in 3 different weight classes; Middleweight, Light Heavyweight & Middle Heavyweight), 2 European Weightlifting Championships in 1947 (Light Heavyweight) & 1952 (Middle Heavyweight), a World Weightlifting Championship at Light Heavyweight in 1946, and a silver medal at the 1952 Olympic Games in the Middle Heavyweight class (he was runner-up to one of the all-time greats, Norbert Schemansky). I'd seen photos of Novak, but never any footage of him, so this is great. After Novak's competitive weightlifting days were over he became a circus strongman and did that for around 25 years, so I assume the performance he gives in this film was part of his regular act.
